2011 Student Winners

Note: The deadline has passed. Abstracts are no longer being accepted for the Annual Meeting.

Attention Students and Advisors

Any student who submits an abstract by May 27 can be eligible to win the Best Student Oral Presentation Award or a Best Student Poster Presentation Award at the 2011 SIM Annual Meeting.

Each of the 6 winners (1 for oral presentation and 1 each for posters in each of the core areas) receives a certificate and a $500 cash award.

The 5 core areas are:
  • Biocatalysis
  • Environmental Microbiology
  • Fermentation & Cell Culture
  • Metabolic Engineering
  • Natural Products

All candidates for student awards will be judged onsite during their presentation. Awardees will be notified prior to the banquet and should plan to attend the banquet to receive their check and certificate.

Abstract Submission

Abstracts must have the student as the lead/presenting author and must describe research substantially conducted by this student. Note: Students that participated in the 2010 session are not eligible for consideration for the 2011 session.

On the SIM abstract form, check the box indicating student status AND on the box indicating that the abstract should also be evaluated for inclusion in the Student Oral Presentation Session.

Abstracts must be submitted by May 27 in order to be considered for this special session. Notification of status will be made in late May.

Additional Information

Students making oral presentations may also present the same information in poster format - and are encouraged to do so.
